Candidate for CADEM Regional Director, Region 3
Experience That Matters!
Former Contra Costa Democratic Central Committee Chair Jeff Koertzen has been involved in California politics since he moved to the Bay Area in early 2010. Through the ADEM elections, he became involved in the local central committee where he was an elected Ballot Member for several years and served in several positions including Chair and Past Chair, Treasurer, Bylaws Chair, and Parliamentarian, among others. He was also the founder of the local Roosevelt Dinner which brought local politicians and activists together for a night of socializing while raising money for the county party and future elections. Jeff has served as a delegate to the CADEM convention since 2011 and has served as an EBoard Rep for four years representing the Assembly District. He was selected as the Region 6 Democrat of the Year in 2013.
A CADEM Regional Director has several responsibilities defined in the state party bylaws, but all good leaders do more than just the minimum required of them. There are myriad opportunities to bring the various communities across the region together to collaborate and develop best practices. The business of politics shouldn’t get in the way of doing our work and electing Democrats.
Communication is critical. Democrats in the region need to know information about the party, including dates and deadlines.
Committees and clubs throughout the region have people doing the same type of work, but we should be sharing best practices.
A Regional Director must be available to provide assistance with new or difficult political or organizational issues.
The Regional Director is not just a liaison to the Democrats in the district, but should be their biggest champion in Sacramento.
